Additional Information:    Each Girl Scout receives a Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art patch for participating. When you arrive, please remember to check in at the station located across from coat check in the Bloch Lobby before going to the classrooms. Parking in the garage is $8.00 per vehicle. Members park for free. 

 

Program Name:  Drawing

Who:  Junior

When: Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm (registration deadline September 26) or Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 1:00 pm - 3:00pm (registration deadline March 13)

What:  Girl Scouts enjoy sketching in the galleries as they explore various works of art. In the studio classroom, the students create their own drawing that further explores drawing techniques, materials and composition. This workshop fulfills four requirements to earn the Drawing Badge.

Program Name:  Jewelry

Who:  Junior

When: October 5, 2014; 1  – 3 p.m. (registration deadline September 26) or February 22, 2015 from 1  – 3 p.m. (registration deadline February 13)

What:  Girl Scouts discover jewelry from ancient to modern times in the galleries. In the studio classroom, they learn a variety of jewelry making techniques while creating a pendant necklace. This workshop fulfills three requirements to earn the Jeweler Badge.

Program Name:  Printmaking

Who:  Brownie-Ambassador

When: October 19, 2014; 1 – 3 p.m. (registration deadline October 10)

What:  Girl Scouts explore and  engage in various printmaking techniques inspired by the art of Thomas Hart Benton. To complete the museum workshop experience, scouts are encouraged to tour the Thomas Hart Benton Historic Home prior to the workshop. Note: Reservations for the Benton Home tour are made separately by calling: 816-931-5722
