Program Name:  Food Drive

Who: All ages

When: The month of September 

Where:  Your neighborhood!

What: Adopt your neighborhood for Harvesters' BIG neighborhood food drive this September! Become a Hunger Champion during Hunger Action Month by rallying your neighbors to donate food for Harvesters! 

It's so easy. Contact Harvester at 877-653-9517 or fooddrive@harvesters.org, tell them you are with Girl Scouts, and let them know your interest and what neighborhood you live in. Then, pick up bags from us and deliver them to your neighbors on Saturday, Sept. 20.

On Saturday, Sept. 27 pick up the bags of donated food from your neighbors and bring them to a drop-off location (exact sites determined at later date).

Program Name:  Juliette Low Birthday Celebration in Kansas City

Who: Girl Scouts ages 6 and up

When: Contact us to schedule your two hour volunteer and birthday celebration shifts during the following time frames:                

  • Saturday, October 25, 2014, shifts 8:30-10:30 am, 9:30-11:30 am, 10:30 am-12:30 pm, 1-3 pm, and 2-4 pm
  • Tuesday, October 28, 2014, shifts 4-6 pm, 5-7 pm, 6-8 pm
  • Wednesday, October 29, 2014, shifts 4-6 pm, 5-7 pm, 6-8 pm
  • Thursday, October 30, 2014, shifts 4-6 pm, 5-7 pm, 6-8 pm
  • Saturday, November 1, 2014, shifts 1-3 pm, and 2-4 pm

Where:  Harvesters, 3801 Topping Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64129 

What: Celebrate Juliette Low's birthday in great Girl Scout fashion with a service project at Harvesters; Girl Scouts of all ages will be able to assist Harvesters towards their goal of collecting 20,000 meals in honor of Juliette Low in the Volunteer Outreach Center and by conducting neighborhood food drives.

Work with your troop to host a food drive at your schools, faith based organizations, neighborhoods or parents' offices. Then bring food to one of the celebrations listed below. At each celebration, you’ll learn about Harvesters, sort and repackage donated food and end the day with a birthday cake and celebration for Juliette Low. 

If you would like help getting started, let Harvesters know. They have many great ideas to help engage your community

How to register: Advanced registration is required please call 816-929-3090 or e-mail volunteer@harvesters.org. 

Additional Information: Girl Scouts, who would like to receive a fun patch, must bring enough food for 40 meals (the equivalent of 50 lbs. of food).  Everyone must wear close-toed shoes. Deadline for registration is October 17.
