1. Start with a poem:
* Write one haiku and one limerick. Haiku uses 3 lines of 5,7,and 5 syllables. Limericks use 5 lines that rhyme, usually in the pattern (a-a-b-b-a).
* Write one sonnet. Sonnets are 14 lines.
* Write a free-verse poem - use any number of lines, syllables, rhyme or not, your choice!
2. Create a short story. Remember to include characters, plot, and setting details:
* Mystery
* Humor
* Adventure
3. Use words to share who you are:
* Write down a favorite Girl Scout memory.
* Write down a memorable day.
* Write about a big adventure you've had.

4. Write an article. Pretend you are a reporter for a newspaper:
* Interview someone and write an article about what you've learned.
* News story - write a story about something that happened in Girl Scouts, school, or your town.
* Roundup - interview at least five people about the same subject.. Put their answers in an article.
5. Tell the world what you think:
*Write an essay about a favorite animal.
* Write an essay about a place you'd like to visit.
* Write an essay about your favorite book.
