Annual Events and Activities

Our Cub Scout Pack 3 does a TON of events and activities throughout the Scouting year. Some are community service project-related, others are fundraisers, and some are educational. We strive for 100% Scout participation at all these events so please mark your calendars early and make plans to attend.  Parent volunteers run all the events, and your help is absolutely necessary to run our Pack’s fun-filled events. Please contact your Den Leader to see where your family can help.

The Pack Committee plans a full calendar of annual events and activities for all scout families to enjoy. Almost all the times, dates, locations and other event details are set before the beginning of the school year.

The below list of events and activities only state the month or season that the events are in. You will need to check the event calendar for the exact dates and times

General Information for all Events:

Please arrive early and sign the attendance log if necessary for events that will need to track your Scout's attendance for participation patches, pins or cost relating to paying for your scout's attendance. All the details for the events will be emailed to you 2 days prior to the events. Pack 3 uses automatic events email reminders, which will have more details on each event. Make sure to read the email thoroughly and contact your Den Leader with any specific questions your family may have.

Monthly Events and Activities

Den Meetings: (twice monthly) are for a smaller group of scouts to meet per their Scout rank with their Den Leaders. Your Den Leaders set the actual times, dates and locations but all the Dens generally try to meet up at the Moose. Your Den Leaders will announce the exact Den Meeting schedule at the start of each Scout Season. The scouts do projects, events, and other fun activities with their piers, learning something new and productive for their young mental, social and moral development. The scouts are also working toward achieving their next rank in Scouting and having fun along the way.

  • At least one Parent should attend with his/her son(s) and sibling(s).
  • Den meet twice a monthly.
  • Your Den Leaders will set the exact time and day to meet.
  • Siblings are welcome to attend. Parents please mind your kids.

Pack Meetings: (once monthly)  The Pack gathers once a month to celebrate Scouting together, whether it is with theme-oriented skits, songs, games or events. At some Pack Meetings, we also recognize Scouts that have earned awards or badges.

  • Pack 3 meets the first Wednesday of the month at the Moose at 6pm.
  • We also meet at other locations for special events.
  • Siblings are welcome to attend. Parents please mind your kids.

Leaders' Meetings: (once monthly) are for all the adult Leaders that help run the Pack. These meetings are open to parents of Pack 3.

  • At least one Den Leader from each Den to attend

  • Pack Committee members to attend
  • Parent representatives are encouraged to attend.

District Roundtable: (once monthly) is for some of the adult Leaders like the Committee Chair, Cubmaster and some event Chairs to attend to find out what the Andaste District has planned for the scout units.

Fall Season Events and Activities

Popcorn Sales: (September) is an offical BSA (Boy Scouts of America) annual fundraiser to help pay for your son's awards and Pack 3's costs for events and activities. Pack 3 earns its operating budget from the popcorn sales, so we ask every family to support their son's effort to give something back to our Pack. This event runs over many months.

  • A good portion of the money raised also funds the national BSA program
  • Scouts are to be in their Class "A" uniform if going door to door to sale.

District Fall Camporee: (October) Each fall Andaste District sponsors a one day camporee for all scouts. The theme for each year is an adventure while learning scout skills.

Halloween Parade:  (October) The cub scouts participate on a float in the Halloween Parade.

Scouting for Food
(November)
is an on-going annual program of the Boy Scouts of America begun in 1985 by the Greater Saint Louis Area Council that collects food for local food banks. It is organized at the local level throughout the country.

Scouting for Food is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement and its dedication to implement the Scout Slogan and do good turn daily.

On the first Saturday in November, Cub Scout Pack 3 will leave plastic bags on the doorknobs of their neighbors asking for donations of non-perishable food items. One week later, the Scouts return to pick up and deliver the bags of food to the Canton Food Bank. The Cub Scouts will also be standing outside the Tops Markets, D&H Markets and the Dollar General in Canton collecting donations from shoppers. The donations will be delivered directly to the food bank. Boy Scout Troop 33 will be at the food bank to sort and put away all of the donations.

Winter Season Events

Tubing at Ski Sawmill: (January) Our January pack meeting is a trip to Ski Sawmill for an afternoon of racing tubes down the slopes. Fun for the entire family!

Pinewood Derby Race: (February) is strictly for FUN! The race gives you and your son the chance to show your mechanical and engineering skills. All the Scouts will make a Pinewood Derby car to race against all the other cars in Pack 3. The cars start out as simple blocks of wood but with a little time and a little assistance it is amazing what your son and you can turn the cars into.
The top 3 winners will advance to the Andaste District Derby Race in Towanda.

Blue and Gold Banquet: (February) is an event for all the Pack’s Scouts and extended families including grandparents. This is a celebration of the birthday of Scouting. We have a dinner with entertainment and fun activities for the kids. The Moose Lodge provides the main course food and drinks.
