For our experienced campers as well as those with limited or no experience, there are several levels of involvement when it comes to camping with the Pack.
Level 1 – All-in
Experienced campers with gear who are comfortable in a “roughing it” situation.
Level 2 – Willing to give it a go, but need a tent
Less experienced campers (may have camped in the past OR have no experience), willing to do a “trial run”, but don't currently have a tent.
Level 3 – Not quite ready, but willing to put our “toe in the water”
Have interest in camping but unsure of what to expect OR may have a younger Scout uncomfortable with the idea of an overnighter.
Our goal is encourage all families to participate at the level where they are most comfortable. Below are some additional thoughts to help you decide on the level of involvement that is right for you and your Scout…
LOANER TENTS
If you do not have a tent, the Boy Scouts (Troop 55) have tents they would willing to loan to us for campouts if there are families who don't have a tent at this time. Other Pack members may also have an extra tent they would loan to interested families.
NO OVERNIGHT REQUIRED
If you've not camped, have limited experience, or have a younger Scout who may not be ready for the overnight portion of a campout, we invite you and your Scout to join us at our Pack campouts for our activities, dinner, and campfire time. You could then sleep at home and rejoin us in the morning for breakfast. This will give your Scout exposure to what a campout is like and the fun that is had (without the sleepover component) so that at the next campout they might be willing to try an overnighter.
Our overall goal is to increase camping participation over time for Pack 50. Outlined below are our targets for the next several years.
| Summer Camp Participation % | Pack Campout Participation % |
| Total across all camps | Spring | Fall |
2015-16 | At least 75% | At least 50% | At least 50% |
2016-17 | At least 75% | At least 75% | At least 75% |
2017-18 | At least 75% | At least 75% | At least 75% |
