Uniforms

The Boy Scouts of America has always been a uniformed body. Its uniforms help to create a sense of belonging. They symbolize character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Wearing a uniform gives youth and adult members a sense of identification and commitment.

Class A Uniforms:

The Class A uniform is composed of the official blue button-up Cub Scout shirt (or the official khaki Boy Scout shirt for Webelos), with appropriate patches and badges and the cub scout neckerchief and slide (based on rank).  The official scout uniform includes scout blue or khaki pants or shorts, but Pack 495 allows the scout to wear his choice of any pants or shorts.
Optional pieces include: scout blue pants (either long or short), cub scout belt, and cub scout hat.
The Class A uniform should be worn whenever the scouts are interacting in their capacity as Cub Scouts with the general public, or whenever the occasion is considered to be formal or official. For instance, Class A uniforms are worn at Pack meetings, fundraisers, and Cub Scout hosted festivals and events.

Class A uniforms, neckerchiefs, neckerchief slides, numerals, council patches, den patches and world crest patches may be purchased at the stores listed in the FAQs.

The following insignia placement information is also available at www.scouting.org:

Class B Uniforms:

A Class B uniform is composed of a t-shirt with the pack's logo, and the scout's choice of shorts or pants. The Class B uniform is worn when the occasion is not formal, the scouts are not interfacing with the general public representing scouting, and when the scouts are expected to engage in activities for which the full uniform would be inappropriate. For instance, Class B uniforms would be appropriate for a scout hike, camping trip, or athletic event.

Class B uniforms are given to new scouts and adult leaders in Pack 495.
