SCOUTING NEEDS YOU!

If you are considering becoming a den leader, assistant den leader or committee member or want to make a difference in your scout’s experience, becoming a trained and registered leader. The first step to becoming a trained and registered leader is to take and complete the BSA Youth Protection class offered online at scouting.org.  Once you complete the Youth Protection training, print the certificate, complete the BSA Adult Leader application and turn in the application and certificate to the Cubmaster.  The Cubmaster or Committee Chair will then obtain the appropriate signatures and file your application with BSA District/Council personnel.

As a registered leader there is a whole world of training available to you.  Some of it is required in order to perform your duties within the Pack and some of it is optional but extremely useful.  At a minimum, each leader must earn their “Trained” Patch.  This should be done as quickly as possible upon becoming a registered leader to ensure that you are, at a minimum, properly trained.  The training requirements for obtaining this patch require you to complete the following training:

·   Youth Protection Training*

·   Fast Start Orientation*

·   This Is Scouting*

·   Leader-Specific Training (By Position)*

We will be happy to give you more information if you are interested and there is no obligation to commit to any leadership position.  Take the time to explore all of the possibilities and opportunities to be involved in your scout's den, pack and Scouting experience.
