Webelos Scout Resources for a Great Program

Webelos Meaning:
We'll Be Loyal Scouts

 Webelos Goal:
Prepare a Cub Scout to be a Boy Scout

 Webelos Rank Requirements

Arrow of Light Requirements

webelos

Webelos is a 20 month program for 4th and 5th grade boys to prepare to join a Boy Scout troop while learning outdoors skills and participating in 20 different activity badges. A well-run group of Webelos is a gradual change from being an 'adult-run' den to being a 'boy-run' patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous scouting troop. This migration requires the parents and den leaders to give the scouts more and more control, decision-making power, and responsibility as they progress in skills, abilities, and maturity. A good program also provides the scouts with many opportunities to grow in the Webelos Virtues.

Webelos Path

Webelos

Webelos can look forward to new adventure and a more Boy Scout format of den meetings!

  • Each den will have "patrols" with their own selected name, patch, and cheer!
  • Each Webelos will have a chance to be a "denner" i.e. patrol leader for one meeting!
  • Den Chiefs who will share Boy Scouting skills to Webelos along with encouragement to continue their Scouting journey!
  • To begin that transition,  all Webelos are asked to wear their full Class-A uniform to all den meetings (If expect a messy meeting,  families will be informed ahead of time!)

These Webelos 1s and 2s meet for 2hours to work towards the Webelos badge and/or Arrow of Light.  Current 5th graders will bridge to Boys Scouts in Febuary 2014 while the 4th graders will continue their journey to experience what Boy Scouts can offer them.

It is the goal to earn one Activity Badge per den meeting towards Webelos Badge and Arrow of Light.  Webelos Scouts should review their Webelos handbook or click on this link to a online version.  You will be amazed at how much we are already doing as a family or in school.  Print or show book to your den leader when you complete something to be "signed-off".

If you have a special talent or would like the thrill of a new experience, Webelos Scouts can work on Academic and Sport Belt Loops and Pins. Worksheets are available from any PACK 183 den leader or on the internet at

Webelos Dens have sychonized activtiy badge schedules.  Therefore, Webelos are allowed to visit another den meeting as make-up.  Contact your den leader, if you plan to attend.  Also, there may a combined den meeting for more fun!
