In 1985, GSCNC started SHARE (Share Her Annual Real Expenses), an annual family giving campaign. For over 20 years, the SHARE campaign has been essential to ensuring that Girl Scouts is available to ALL girls, regardless of their financial situation.
Contributions to SHARE support:
- Girl Programs
- Financial Assistance
- Leader Training
- Camping (day and sleep-away)
SHARE stands for Share Her Actual Real Expenses. It is a line item in the Council budget to cover things like (but not limited to) training, the camps and financial assistance. That line item in the budget is funded by you, me and others involved with Girl Scouts. The more successful we are at raising funds the more successful Council will be at providing the services we appreciate.
Here are some interesting Council facts:
- Last year this fund helped 1,812 girls with their troop dues
- It helped 3,598 girls with registration fees
- They spent $91K on programming associated with local Gold Award girls.
- Many companies participate in matching gift programs (check with yours!)
And here are some interesting SU facts:
- Last year 12 troops participated with at least 1 gift
- There were a total of 33 gifts but 241 registered girls.
- Out of the 12 participating troops 5 had only 1 participant
- We only met our goal last year because of one extremely large gift.
- 12 troops didn’t participate at all.
- That means a large number of our leadership team and their troop members didn’t participate.
Our goal is $1,800 again this year.
So here is my request and my offer.
Let’s start with us. Please join me in showing leadership and making a contribution to SHARE.
Then, let’s talk to your Troops. If you would like me to help you in person or through an email you can forward I am happy to do that. There are tons of facts on the envelopes themselves. Ask your Troop to read it over.
This year there will be some incentives! Details to come, but those who can maximize the participation in their troops will be rewarded. So get started now!

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT THE ENVELOPES:
Please write in the Troop and Service Unit information on your envelopes before you hand them out. We do not get credit for the donation if that information is not on the form. We are Association 22, Service Unit 8. Use the white envelope to mail them directly to the bank. I have more envelopes so you do not have to delay mailing them in.

We encourage all friends and family of Girl Scouts to contribute to SHARE. SHARE envelopes are given out to each troop through your Service Unit or Association, or can be requested by emailing share@gscnc.org. Donations can also be made directly online. SHARE gifts are tax deductible.
