Tiger Cub Scout Trail to Advancement

A Tiger Cub is for a boy who has just completed kindergarten and is age seven. A Tiger usually begins his Tiger Cub Scout trail to advancement when he begins the first grade. He and his adult partner complete advancement activities to earn the Tiger Cub badge. A Tiger Cub will complete 15 different requirements in five different Tiger achievement areas.

The entire Cub Scouting program is fun for young boys. The Cub Scout advancement plan gives the boys a sense of accomplishment.

Tiger Scout Advancement - The Bobcat Badge

All scouts must first earn the Bobcat Badge

Starting the path to the Tiger Cub Rank, a scout first earns the Bobcat badge - this is the first step for all Cub Scouts.

But, a Tiger Cub will really earn his Tiger Cub Totem first because its requirements are very simple and it gives him something tangible to receive at the first pack meeting, even if he did not complete all the Bobcat requirements.

The Tiger Cub Totem requirements are:
Learn the Cub Scout Motto
Learn the Cub Scout Sign
Learn the Cub Scout Salute

He can then use the totem to display his achievement beads as he earns them.

Cub Scout Motto:
Do Your Best

Cub Scout Sign:
The Cub Scout sign is made with the right arm held high and straight up above the shoulder, with the index and middle fingers forming a V.

Cub Scout Salute:
The salute is made by joining the index and middle fingers of the right hand (holding the other fingers with the thumb) and touching the extended fingers to the cap visor or forehead. The hand is held the same as for the Cub Scout sign, except the two fingers are together.

The Cub Scout salute is used to salute the flag when in uniform and to show respect to den and pack leaders. It can be used when greeting other Cub Scouts.

Your Cub Scout will eventually need to learn the following:
Cub Scout Promise:
I, [name], promise to do my best
To do my duty to God and my country,
To help other people, and
To obey the Law of the Pack

Law of the Pack:
The Cub Scout follows Akela.
The Cub Scout helps the pack go.
The pack helps the Cub Scout grow.
The Cub Scout gives goodwill.

Fun crafts to get you started - a Tiger Cub Scrapbook

Tiger Scouts Learn about family, teams, nature and faith.

Your young Tiger Cub is growing up so fast and eager to continue down the scouting trail. Grab all the pictures you can and start his scrapbook of his early years. Soon he'll be a boy scout and about to earn his Eagle. In the meantime, enjoy your moments together.

Tiger Cub Scout Requirements

To receive the Tiger Cub rank, the Tiger Cub must complete all 15 parts of the following five achievements with his adult partner. His adult partner will approve each part after the boy does his best to finish it and sign where it says "Akela's OK."

Remember that there are no performance requirements for a boy. Simply participating and doing one's best in the activityconstitutes completion.

Ice Cream Ball - Great Fun for Young Tiger Scouts

What better way to have the boys learn how to make ice cream and have fun at the same time. You make the ice cream mix and place it inside the ball. Then you roll the ball around for the suggested time and it makes a great treat for the boys. Buy several of them and have a competition among the different dens in your pack. Order a few for your own den and take them with your den on an overnight camping trip. Also makes a fun family treat, too.
