Welcome to Troop 300 Mechanicsburg

Welcome to Troop 300, the "Spartans" of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

This page is intended to provide basic information on Troop 300.  For more detailed information please contact us.

Troop 300 has an active year-around program that includes weekly meetings and typically one or more outings a month, which includes camping, hiking, biking, district/council events or participating in community service projects.

Who Can Join Troop 300:  Troop 300 welcomes any interested boy of Scout age (11 years old OR have completed the fifth grade OR have earned the Arrow of light, whichever occurs first). A boy does NOT have to graduate from Cub Scouts or WEBELOS to become a Boy Scout.

Troop 300 Meetings: Troop 300 meets weekly at 7:00 pm on Monday evenings at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, PA.  During summer break we meet at Lower Allen Township Park.

What Does it Cost to Join Troop 300: As of October 2019 – The BSA Registration annual fee for youth and leaders is $75.  Boys’ Life magazine (optional) is an additional $12.  Troop 300 operates outings and events on a “pay as you go’ basis.  This means that each Scout attending an outing or will pay a fee to defray the cost of the outing.  Attending a week long BSA Summer camp with the troop typically costs $385.00.

Advancement and Personal Growth: A Boy Scout advances at his own pace and is required to seek out advancement opportunities and Scoutmaster Conferences. In addition to rank advancement, Scouts also earn Merit Badges, and for the ranks of Star, Life and Eagle, merit badges are required. Scouts learn about sports, crafts, science, trades, business, and future careers as they earn those merit badges.

Uniforms: Scouts are encouraged to wear a field dress uniform (Class "A") to all troop meetings.  When attending outings, events, campouts, etc. scouts will be instructed if they need to wear a field dress uniform (class "A") or activity t-shirt (class "B").

Troop 300 Scout Recognition: Individual Scout achievement is typically recognized at a Troop 300 Court of Honor. Troop 300 holds four (4) Courts of Honor each year.
