Our goal for our troop is that we teach girls life skills while they are having fun. Whether we are working on badges, participating in the Christmas parade or working on a community service project, we do our best to weave as much fun as possible into the activities. Of course, sometimes we just like to let our hair down and have a little fun "just because".
Below are a few of the activities we have organized or participated in over the past couple of years:
Fall trip to Aw Shucks - archery, petting zoo, hayrides, corn maze and much more!
Camp Longridge encampment, Ridgeway, SC - a weekend trip for Girl Scouts from our area - ropes course, swimming, canoeing, campfire and plenty of dancing and playing games!
Twilight Camp - a one night camp-out with girls from other troops in our county - S'mores anyone?
Outdoor Cooking Day - learning to cook yummy treats in foil packets, dutch ovens and box ovens while learning about fire and food handling safety
Build a Birdhouse with Dad Day - fun way to learn about tool safety, woodworking and painting with Dad. In return for their help, the girls made healthy snacks and individual pizzas for Dad for lunch
Christmas Parade - plenty of singing, waving and smiling going on in this group!
Christmas Caroling for Shut-Ins - singing + Girl Scouts = guaranteed smiles and Christmas cheer!
Father/Daughter Dance - from Sweetheart Ball to Mardi Gras to the Fabulous 50s Sock Hop, this themed dance is always a hit with the girls
Girl Scout Sunday - girls gather to worship together and provide a drop-in where they display projects they've worked on through the year
Cookie Rally - learning how to participate in the largest girl-led business in the world - Girl Scout Cookie Sales
Girl Scout University, Clemson University - a great way to earn badges, meet Girl Scouts from all over the upper part of South Carolina and explore a college campus
Mother's Day Tea Party - a thank you to all of the mothers who mean so much to us - complete with fashion show, poetry, songs and crafts for mom
