Boy Scout Camporee
May 2-4, 2014

The Council-wide Boy Scout Camporee only happens every four years and it is taking place the weekend of May 2-4, 2014 at the Croton Point Park. The theme is Man vs. Wild and is based on the Discovery Channel show of the same name. There will be four program areas: Man vs. Mountain, Man vs. Desert, Man vs. Arctic and Man vs. Jungle. Additional program details will be released soon.
The cost is $15 per person before April 1st and includes an event t-shirt. The cost after April 1st is $20 per person.

Pinewood Derby
Saturday April 12, 2014
10:AM: INSPECTION AND REGISTRATION COMMENCES
11:30: "CUTOFF TIME" FOR REGISTRATION 
RACING COMMENCES ASAP AFTER "CUTOFF TIME"

ENTRY FEE: $8

VENUE: KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HALL, 327 WESTCHESTER AVENUE, PORT CHESTER

Cub Scouts with the fastest cars of each rank, from each pack in the Algonquin District are invited to compete at the Algonquin District Pinewood Derby. That's up to four Cub Scouts from each pack: a Tiger, a Wolf, a Bear and one Webelos. The Pack Committee must submit the online registration form, prior to Friday, April 4, 2014.

The District Pinewood Derby rules, regulations and specifications can be found in the Algonquin section of the council website: www.WPCBSA.org and on the Algonquin District blog: http://algonquindistrict.wordpress.com/ . Be sure to review the rules, regulations and specifications in order to make sure that you and your son have a fun time, with no surprises. Note that registration closes promptly at 11:30!

Common Problems to avoid: 
• All four wheels must touch the track. 
• Weights on the bottom of the car should be inset and flush with the bottom of the pinewood. 
• Finish painting at least a week before registration for the races. 
• No lubrication after registration. 
• Maximize weight without going over five ounces. 
• Racers MUST BE IN CUB SCOUT UNIFORM.
