SCOUT OATH

To do my duty to God and my country and
to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally
awake and morally straight

SCOUT LAW

A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal,Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Cleanand Reverent.

OUTDOOR CODE

As an American, I will do my best to—
Be clean in my outdoor manners
Be careful with fire
Be considerate in the outdoors
Be conservation-minded

Be clean in my outdoor manners
I will treat the outdoors as a heritage. I will take care of it for myself and others. I will keep my trash and garbage out of lakes, streams, fields, woods, and roadways.
Be careful with fire
I will prevent wildfire. I will build my fires only when and where they are appropriate. When I have finished using a fire, I will make sure it is cold out. I will leave a clean fire ring, or remove all evidence of my fire.
Be considerate in the outdoors
I will treat public and private property with respect. I will follow the principles of Leave No Trace for all outdoor activities.
Be conservation-minded
I will learn about and practice good conservation of soil, waters, forests,minerals, grasslands, wildlife, and energy. I will urge others to do the same.

All boy scouts in Troop 82 are required to know the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, and the Outdoor Code, but more importantly, to know what they all mean and to incorporate these ideals into their daily lives.

We as Boy Scouts rely upon a 'training' program in the form of badges to track the progress of the scouts and to give you a feeling of achievement. There are two main types of badges,the Merit badges, and the Rank badges. Scouting is not just about programs,awards and badges. The games and adventurous activities are very important to scouting, not just because they are enjoyable, but because they are also important in the young persons development. We will provide you with the opportunity to develop, to learn and to enjoy yourselves, but at the same time,rules will have to be followed.

Uniforms:

Scouting is a uniformed organization. All Scouts are required to wear their Class A’s for Troop Meetings, and when arriving and departing from events and parades. Scouts should take pride in their uniform and do their best to take care of the uniform. Shirts should be buttoned and tucked into your pants at all times. Other events will require the scouts in Troop 512 to wear the Class B shirts. Each Scout is required to have and wear,within a reasonable amount of time after joining the Troop, the following items:

Class "A" Uniform:

- Khaki Class A Scout shirt with appropriate insignia

- Olive shorts or pants

- Boy Scout olive web belt with brass buckle

- Boy Scout socks

- Boots, shoes or sneakers; NO sandals or open toe shoes

- Neckerchief and slide required to be worn at the Court of Honor

Uniforms and insignia are to be worn in the proper manner. The inside cover of the Boy Scout handbook contains guides for proper placement of insignia. The boys are encouraged to sew their own insignia onto their own uniforms.

The Boy Scout Handbook:

Above all else, the Boy Scout Handbook is the single most important piece of equipment that your son will use during his scouting experience. It is absolutely necessary that each Scout have his own handbook and that it is brought to every scout meeting.

The information that he needs to complete the requirements is in the handbook. It is also used to record your son's completion of the requirements and used for the Troop Board of Review.
