Scout Jamboree October 3-5

October 3-5, 2014

This great event will be held at the Wilson County Fairgrounds. There will be activities for Scouts of all ages and huge Arena Show program on Saturday everning.

ADVENTURE - Yes there will be plenty of adventure during this weekend. Don’t miss being a part of history as 8,500 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers, along with family members experience the fun and adventure of the 2014 Council Jamboree. Scouting is 104 years old and has impacted many youth over these years. This Jamboree will offer Cub Scouts new and exciting opportunities to experience the adventure of games, displays, hands-on activities, BB and Archery Shooting and much more. Boy Scouts will have the opportunity to experience competition in several different Scout games and contests, displays, shotgun shooting, and learning opportunities. Venturers will experience programs designed for today’s teenager. On Saturday evening there will be a huge arena show with special guests The Mann Sisters, skits, awards and a Laser Light Show. You don’t want to miss the show!

You can attend the Jamboree as much or as little as you like.  It starts Friday evening, goes all day Saturday, and finishes Sunday by noon.  If you don't plan to camp overnight, I suggest coming on Saturday morning and staying for the day.

Here is a link to the Google Maps directions to the Wilson County Fairgrounds.

When entering the fairgrounds, tell the person working that you are with Pack 74 in the CHEROKEE district.

If you are planning to come only on Saturday, please come to the fairgrounds shortly after 8:00 am or before.  The opening ceremony is at 8:45.  If you come any later you may not be able to find the Pack.

Notes:

Only one car will be allowed at our campsite.  All others must park in the parking area away from camp.

There will be no fires allowed in camp.

Cold cuts, chips, PB & J, milk, water, and soda will be provided for lunch and dinner.  Poptarts will be provided for breakfasts.  You are welcome to bring your own food.

I always have "Camp Chair" at the top of my list for items to bring to a campout.  Here is a link to a list of suggested items for overnight campers.

I suggest the boys wear a Class "B" uniform (t-shirt) and shorts or long pants.  Depending on the weather, it may be good to bring a light jacket or a rain parka.  The forecast for Saturday is currently Sunny and 69 degrees.  Perfect Weather!

We all had fun at the Jamboree.  There were lots of Army vehicles to climb on, BB and Bow & Arrow shooting, and a midway with many, many activities.  All boys who attended got a Jamboree patch!
