"Once an Eagle, always an Eagle"

Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. In order to achieve this rank, a Scout must earn 21 Merit Badges, including 12 required Merit Badges. He must also complete an Eagle Leadership project and pass a board of review. A Scout who earns this rank is known as an Eagle. Once earned, the title of Eagle Scout is held for life, giving rise to the phrase: Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.

Since its introduction in 1911, more than two million young men have attained the rank of Eagle. 57,976 Eagle Scout Awards were presented in 2012, or about 7% of the total membership of the BSA. Among the ranks of Eagle Scouts are more than forty astronauts, including Neil Armstrong; television inventor Philo Farnsworth; Academy Award-winning film director Steven Spielberg; Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe; nine Medal of Honor recipients; Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer; numerous Governors, Congressmen, and Senators; and the thirty-eighth President of the United States, Gerald R. Ford.

Troop 77 is proud that many of its Scouts are included among this number.
