Welcome to Troop 529 in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

Welcome to Troop 529's website, we usually meet every Thursday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church from 7:00PM - 8:00PM.

As part of the Greater Saint Louis Area Council, New Horizon District, we have adobted the "Boy Led Program" precedented by the originator of the Boy Scouts of American, Sir Robert Baden-Powell.  At the core his beliefs is the Mission Statement of the Boy Scouts of America:

"To prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law."

The Scout Oath and Law will help to instill the values of good conduct and honesty.  A boy who spends in our Scout Troop will learn lifetime skills.  He will learn basic outdoor skills, self-reliance, and how to get along withothers.  Scouting will prepare him to live a more productive and fulfilling life.

What is “a boy-led program”?
By definition it is “empowering boys to be leaders,” the core of Scouting.

A Boy Scout Troop is a small democracy.
With the Scoutmaster's direction, the boys are formed into Patrols, plan the Troop's program, and in doing so allows it to come to fruition.

According to Lord Baden-Powell
“The patrol method is not a way to operate a Boy Scout Troop, it is the only way. Unless the patrol method is in operation, you don't really have a Boy Scout Troop.”
