What is a Boy Scout?

 Animated Scout Oath

Animated Scout Law

Boy Scouts is a program for boys ages 11-17 designed to achieve the aims of Scouting, building character, citizenship, personal fitness, and leadership training, through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership, with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster and lots of other adults' help.
Troop 461 runs a boy led program, giving the scouts an experience of dealing with peer supervision and leadership. Scouts themselves plan, organize, and lead the troop, the role of adult leaders is to assist them in doing that job.
The ideals of Scouting are understanding and agreeing to live by the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout Slogan, Scout Motto and the Outdoor Code. Each Scout in the Troop is encouraged to strive by these ideals and must understand them to begin his advancement program.
