Who we are:
-Our Pack has been established in the Pleasant Hill Area for many years. Our charter organization is Elks Lodge 98. We are part of the Mid Iowa Council-Division Hawkeye.
-Our typical meetings are on Thursdays at 6:30 PM. We keep track of all events @www.Scoutlander.com
-Our Pack participates in a variety of activities. Scouts have visited Neal Smith Wildlife refuge, fire stations, police stations, sporting events, and walk in parades. Our favorite event is building and racing Pinewood DerbyCars!
Goals:
-Your Cub Scout will learn respect for their community, home, country and other people.
-Scouts will learn different tasks that help them become a better student, son and member of society.
Expectations:
-We encourage parents and scouts to participate at all levels within the pack. We ask that you attend and participate with your son on a regular basis. We do understand things come up. Please remember that we are not baby sitters.
-Scouting strives to make a pack a family. We encourage families to attend pack events and welcome siblings.
FinancialCommitment:
-Pack 98 establishes a budget at the beginning of each year. The average cost per scout to run our program is $135.00 per year.
-Our budget includes advancements, program materials, recharter fees paid to the Mid Iowa Council, and initial costs of Pack events.
-Every year we have a POPCORN fundraiser that we use to support our pack. Every year,we keep raising the bar and are able to buy things as a pack and cover most costs. We require ourscouts to sell a minimum amount of popcorn to offset their costs.
-There are also costs of getting your scout’s uniform, possibly some den items, and travel expenses to events.
-Costs should never be an issue for families that want their boys in scouting. Reach out to one of our leaders and please don’t be afraid to ask!
TimeCommitment:
-Pack 98 expects you as parents to participate in at least one pack event during the year. We form committees for events and ask that you sign up.
-We also encourage you to attendparents meetings regularly to keep informed.
-Please, take an active role in your son’s den as well. Our leaders are volunteers and might have a son in the den that they might want to spend time with.
