Baden-Powell was once quoted as saying, “The patrol system isnot one method in which Scouting for boys can be carried on. It is the onlymethod.” As patrols are formed, it is intended that their membership willremain together throughout their Scouting years. Beginning as a new Scoutpatrol, they become a tightly knit unit, which is dependent upon one anotherand yet finds strength and independence in their brotherhood. It is in thesafety and camaraderie of the patrol that lessons of leadership and cooperationare learned from each other. The patrol name and the emblem which reflects thatname are two of the ways that this group uniquely identifies itself.
